  • RASA welcomes new members. Mr. Peng Sha joined RASA as a visiting PhD student from Southeast University in China. Peng will be conducting his doctoral research at RASA for 18 months. Ms. Yuhan Liang and Ms. Sihan Yong joined RASA as graduate assistants. (10/28/2019)

  • Journal article accepted for publication. A journal article co-authored by Mr. Tonghui Cui , Dr. James T. Allison and Dr. Wang, titled “”A Comparative Study of Formulations and Algorithms for Reliability-based Co-Design Problems,”  has been accepted for publication by Journal of Mechanical Design. (10/22/2019)

  • RASA receives funding from Department of Energy (DOE), through the DOE Nuclear Energy University Program (NEUP), addressing the transmission grid resilience issue for the nuclear renewable hybrid energy systems. (DOE Announcement). In this project, RASA is collaborating with UTD and NREL for a three-year $800k grant to develop a multi-timescale nuclear-renewable hybrid energy systems (N-R HESs) operations framework to provide different types of grid products.   • RASA receives funding from National Science Foundation (NSF), through the POETS engineering research center (ERC), addressing the reliability issues for carbon capture and storage (CCS) systems. In this project, RASA is collaborating with researchers from Stanford University, University of Illinois and the RCGI center at Brazil, for a $500K grant to develop advanced reliability and risk management techniques for CCS systems.   • Journal article accepted for publication. A journal article co-authored by Mr. Jiaxin Wu and Dr. Wang, titled “A Comparative Study of Control Strategies for Disruption Management in Engineering Design for Resilience,” has been accepted for publication by ASCE-ASME Journal of Risk and Uncertainty in Engineering Systems.   • RASA receives funding from NSF, through the POETS engineering research center (ERC). Dr. Wang serves as the lead PI of the team with researchers from Illinois and Stanford, for a $500K grant to address holistic design challenges for electric vehicle fast-charging systems. (10/5/2018)

  • RASA receives funding from Department of Energy (DOE), through the DOE Vehicle Technology Office (VTO), addressing the reliability and safety challenges in vehicle manufacturing (DOE Announcement). RASA is part of a multiple university/industry collaborative team, led by Univ. of Michigan, for a three-year $1.5M grant addressing fundamental challenges related to corrosion of dissimilar material joints made by high strength steel and aluminum alloy.   • RASA welcomes new members. Dr. Zhuoyuan (Joey) Zheng and Dr. Liang Cong joined RASA as postdoctoral research associates. Mr. Yuanxu Li, Ms. Xinyang Liu, Ms. Bayan Hamdan, and Ms. Yuting Zhan joined RASA as graduate assistants. (8/22/2018)

  • Dr. Wang co-authored a new book in Springer Science,  titled “Engineering Design under Uncertainty and Health Prognostics“. (6/18/2018)

  • RASA receives funding from Office of Naval Research (ONR) addressing the safety issues of fast charging/discharging batteries. A three-year $2M grant is awarded to the team to address fundamental issues related to safety-critical failure modes of fast charging/discharging lithium-ion batteries. (6/7/2018)

  • RASA welcomes four new members. Mr.Bo Chen, Mr.Tonghui Cui, Mr. Jiaxin Wu and Ms. Yanwen Xu join the group as graduate assistants. (4/26/2018)

  • Journal article co-authored by Dr. Wang and former group member, Dr. Nita Yodo, has been accepted for publication by IEEE Trans. on Reliability. The article , tilted “Enabling resilience of complex engineered systems by control theory” for the first time employs the control theory as a fundamental guiding principle for resilience realization of engineered systems. (9/1/2017)

  • Congratulations to Dr. Nita Yodo, a former group member, for joining the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at North Dakota State University as a tenure track assistant professor, starting in Fall-2017. (8/16/2017)

  • Yodo joined North Dakota Faculty.  A form PhD student in RASA, Dr. Nita Yodo, who defended her dissertation in May 2017 has  joined the Faculty of North Dakota State University as an assistant professor in the department of industrial and manufacturing engineering, starting at Fall-2017. Congratulations to Nita, as an excellent and incredible scholar!  (8/15/2017)
  • RASA is relocating to UIUC, as Dr. Wang is joining the department of industrial and enterprise systems engineering at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a tenured associate professor (8/1/2017).
